According to USA Today, Facebook is trying to become more like Twitter by changing its privacy controls. It is hoped that the changes will allow Facebook users to share information more quickly and with more people.
Quick thought: I don't think it's necessary that Facebook be the be-all, end-all of social networking sites. But if there are economies of scope with social networking more power to them.








I wonder if many times companies try to be everything to everyone. Google, for instance, is in the blog and maps arena, but there are many shortcomings to both of those services, which I wonder is the result of them trying to do too much.

I think a lot of them do run into this problem when they try to keep their growth going. ESPN tried to offer cell phone services for awhile as I remember.
When I worked for Walgreens, the stores had a goal for profit and sales growth. Plus there was profit-sharing. That drove employees to look for ways to grow the business.
