Story here from the Columbia Missourian.
I just got a new laptop from the university at which I work, loaded with Vista of course. I'd heard the horror stories, but decided to take my chances. Most of my programs worked fine on Vista, but one of the most important - SAS - would not let me install it. So I'm going back to XP.
The IT people say I'm "downgrading" to XP (their word, not mine). I think I'm upgrading.

The IT guy at work says Windows Vista is great if you disable all the "Are you sure you want to do..." questions. For coding development we use Linux boxes.

Interesting. The fact that I couldn't even install SAS was enough to scare me away from Vista. It certainly has some nice features, but the cost is too much.
